I had one of my favorite worship songs on repeat for two days and I couldn't help but maintain an attitude of worship and feel the peace of God throughout those days. It is so true that the things we let into our "gates" (eyes and ears) effect us. After being in a crowd where secular music is playing I come away feeling kind of icky. It does not provide peace nor usher in the presence of God. Not only the words but the heart behind the music really does make a difference.
It is completely opposite when worship music plays.
I am so thankful for the ability to simply turn on a few worship songs when I begin feeling stressed or just need to take some time to be calm and restful. It uplifts me, brings rest, and rejuvenates my spirit. I love how the Lord allows us to express our praise to Him in that way and how He will meet us right where we are.
